Hair Care Made for Kids from @SoCozy

“This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are my own.”

Health and personal care awareness has been raised more than the previous decades. People are more concerned whether what they ingest or rubbed on their skin has harmful chemicals or is genetically modified. More people are have the awareness what they are putting in and on their bodies. As a parent, I am concerned about these same issues for the safety of my daughter and one of the ways I make it safe for her is to buy her the hair care essentials that are made specifically for kids.

SoCozy is perfect for any type of kids hair, even for those with sensitive scalps. In fact, Cozy, the parent who started it all, always thought about the welfare of kids, not just her own. With a lot of research and development while also being committed to excellence, she has developed the Hush Collection that started in her basement. Now, you can buy them from Target, Walgreens, CVS, etc. You get to use what her kids use.

Hush Sensitive Serum is to calm irritated scalps, taming the itch and reducing dry flakes. It is a leave-in formula, so even if washing hair had to be missed, it does not mean the hair care stops and it’s non-greasy. Just part hair in small sections, apply and massage the scalp to help normalize sebum production and moisture balance.

The Hush Sensitive Foam is for kids who want to be stylish without any worry their hair or scalp will be damaged. The results are soft and bouncy hair without any buildup that causes flaking and itching. Just pump once or twice and apply on damp hair evenly from roots to tips.

The Hush Sensitive 2 in 1 is a shampoo and conditioner together that gently purifies and conditions their hair and scalp. A little squeeze and massage in a circular motion to massage and lather.  Rinse with warm or cool water.

The Hush Sensitive Detangler is a ultra-gentle leave-in spray that helps neat up the hair without tugging. Sprayed on damp hair and used as needed anytime throughout the day.

How to Beat the Heat in August

Summer brings to mind sunny picnics, days lazing on the beach and yummy iced treats. But the flip side comes in August when the intensity of the heat and the humidity make you feel like you’re permanently drenched in sweat. Here are some simple tips on how to beat the heat in August:

  1. Freeze your Sheets

This is a great way to get comfy at night. Put your sheets in a plastic bag and leave them in the freezer for a couple of hours. This will keep you comfortable for the time it takes for you to fall asleep.

      2. Cool your skin

Use aloe-vera gel or any aloe based moisturizer on your body to lower your skin temperature. It has the added benefit of adding a glow to your skin and getting rid of unwanted scars (if used regularly).

Buy a couple of gel packs and put them in the freezer the whole day. Use them between your mattress and sheet at night to stay cool for a good night sleep. An easier hack for the same thing is to fill a sock with rice and freeze – the rice holds the chill longer.

4. Make your own mister

Place a bowl of water in front of a fan. The wind from the fan will pick up moisture from the water bowl and act as a mini mister.

5. DIY Air Conditioner

Go one step ahead with the mister and put a bowl full of ice in front of a fan! Use frozen salt water to make the ice last longer.

6. Hot water bottles

You don’t have to pack them up after the winter. Just fill them with chilled water and use wherever you want to plank yourself.

7. Smart Air Flow

If you’re too lazy to try fans with ice or water bowls, just place the fans near windows and facing outwards! Blow the hot air out to lower room temperature.

8. Swimming

What better way to beat the heat than a cool splash? Find a pool in your vicinity and dunk yourself in for a couple of hours. The cooling effect will last for a while.

9. Swing it out

A hammock is a great way to stay cool – rig it up in your room or outside under a tree to enjoy a chill time with some music or your favorite book.

10. Get low and below

Heat rises. If you live in a two storey house, move your sleeping gear downstairs. If you’re in a single story house/apartment, put your mattress/cot closer to the ground.

11. Go Green

Electric bulbs give up a lot of heat. Turning off electric lights can lower your room temperature and lower the electricity bill!

12. Cool Shades

Hang a wet sheet in front of open windows. This is a great hack from cooling down the whole room. The breeze blowing in will bring down the room temperature.

Of course, buying an air conditioner means you won’t have to do any of the above! But if you feel like getting creative, put yourself through a stay cool challenge and share your ideas with friends and family. Who knows, maybe someone will get creative enough to come up with an idea to save the planet while staying cool!

The Secret to Relaxing is Earthly Elements from Nature’s Bounty

NB Earthly Elements Logo_white background

After coming home from work, I look forward to having some relaxing time before I go to bed and get ready for another day at work.  I usually just watch some TV after dinner, hang out with my hubby or call my folks and chat with them for a while.  My baths used to be just the same old thing every night, using nothing special to enhance my bathing experience.

I am so happy I found something to enhance my bathing experience like never before.  The Earthly Elements™ brand of 10 essential oils and their sweet almond oil are used for aromatherapy, creating your own moisturizing massaging oils and by adding them to a bath to create an experience similar to a spa.  For the purpose of this review, I was provided complimentary Nature’s Bounty® Earthly Elements™ products.

My nightly routine starts with using the lavender and chamomile aromas.  The Lavender scent provides soothing, comforting and clarity.  The Chamomile aroma gives a sense of calming, nurturing and soothing.  I combine these two aromas and put a small amount into my bath before I get in the tub.  As I run the warm water, the room is filled with such a pleasant aroma.  Then, my body slowly absorbs these aromas and the feelings that accompany them and before I know it, I’m feeling incredibly relaxed in just minutes.

Then, after my bath I use the eucalyptus aroma combined with the Almond Oil to create a soothing moisturizing massaging oil that feels better on my skin than anything I’ve ever used before.  The Eucalyptus gives me a feeling of cooling, which is exactly what I need during these hot summer months.

After I wake up in the morning, I use their Aromatherapy Diffuser with mixed Grapefruit and Peppermint for an energizing aroma to get me ready for a busy day ahead of me.  This mixture is actually one of my favorites blends, as well as my hubby’s.

There are many other scents that are also available to use in the bath, diffuser or as a massaging oil: Lemongrass, Patchouli, Rosemary, Jasmine and Thrive.  I do mix them around, but I have my favorites depending on the time of day and the mood I want to create for myself.

All of these products I discussed above can be found at your local WalMart.  Also, these Earthly Elements products made by Nature’s Bounty would also make great gifts for friends and family members.
